How to use Taabz
What is Taabz?
Taabz is an iPhone and iPad app for splitting shared costs with friends. Start a Tab for a trip, a flat, or a dinner. Add expenses, see who owes what, and settle when you are done.
Do I need an account?
No Taabz account and no password. You sign in with the Apple ID already on your phone. Everything syncs over iCloud.
How do I start a Tab?
On Home, tap Start Tab. Give it a name, pick a currency, and create it. All expenses in that Tab use that currency.
How do I invite friends?
Open the Tab and tap Share invite. Send the iCloud link through Messages, Mail, or whatever you use. There is no invite code. Friends need Taabz installed, then they tap the link to join.
How do I join a Tab?
Tap the iCloud invite link, or on Home tap Join Tab or point the camera at the invite QR. If you do not have the app yet, get it on the App Store and open the link again.
How do I add an expense?
Open the Tab, tap Add Expense, enter the amount and who paid. Splits are equal across the people in the Tab. Optional: tap Snap to photograph a receipt and fill the total on device.
What are offline members?
Add someone who is not on the app yet so you can start splitting without waiting. When they join later via the share link, they can claim that offline member profile.
How do paybacks work?
The Tab owner starts settlement when you are ready to settle up. While Settling, you cannot add new expenses. Who owes whom shows on Payback. A payback is done only when the payee confirms they got the money.
Does it work offline?
Yes. A Tab is saved on your phone first. You can add expenses without a connection. When you are back online, iCloud syncs to your other devices and to friends in the share.
What is Taabz Pro?
Free covers 3 Tabs you create and 3 you join. Taabz Pro is a one-time unlock for unlimited Tabs, plus export of a Tab as a spreadsheet with receipt pictures. It is not a subscription. Payment is processed by Apple.
